Day 3 and 4 of Rush Alumni Continuation week took place on Wednesday and Thursday of this week, and there was some quality soccer played by all. On Wednesday, the Red team (pictured below) led by youngster Lindsey Horan, defeated the Blue team led by Jt Howlan, 4 games to 3. The blue team came out firing on all cylinders and won the first two games with ease. Rush Alumni guests Earl Edwards, and Bradley Mcintosh of UCLA played a major role in this quick start for blue, with Earl making huge saves in goal and Bradley dishin' out dimes like it was his job. After Reid Hukari slammed JT Howlan into the boards in game 6, fracturing JT's radial bone in two places, the blue team was forced to play a man down for the remaining two games. The red team took over using quick passes and sharp runs to pick apart the blue defense to win the match in style. Red team forward Lindsey Horan had this to say about the game, "Uhhh, yeah it was
like ummm an awesome game for us. Like we did like really well." Well said Lindsey. The media also managed to catch up with JT Howlan at the hospital after his X rays. This is what he had to say, "The X-ray's show a double fracture in my left forearm, which is disappointing. I am not upset with Reid and will not retaliate. This stuff happens in football. My only disappointment is not coming away with 3 points today." As always, a class act.Red team pictured (Eduardo Reza, Lindsey Horan, Reid Hukari, Eric Marscheider, Zack Foxhoven, Nick Cardenas, Raymundo Reza, Morgan Sacco)
Day 4 of Rush Alumni continuation week turned out to be quite special. We were graced not only by the presence of the one and only Brian Mullan, but by Johnny Rabadan as well. With Mullan leading the White team, and Rabadan leading the Yellow team, day 4 promised to be quite a showdown. The two squads split the first 6 games, 3-3. In an epic game seven, the yellow team made a statement by winning 3-0, and lifting the trophy. Rabadan had this to say about the win, "It feels good to win. The yellow team came out in search of 3 points and that is what we got. Good goalkeeping by Patrick Tinucci kept us in every game and willed us to a victory. It was difficult especially with Danielle Foxhoven picking apart our defense, but we found a way to win and that is what matters." The last day of Rush Alumni Continuation week is tomorrow and it promises to be a battle. See you out there!
