Mother nature reared her ugly head, but was unsuccessful in spoiling the launch of La Liga 9v9.La Liga 9v9 debuted on Saturday, January 7th at Collegiate Academy. The temperature was cold and snow fell throughout the day, but it did not prevent the players from playing quality soccer and enjoying themselves. La Liga 9v9 was created to provide Rush players the opportunity to play competitive games in a controlled environment. It is a “in house” league comprised of only Rush teams. Barcelona (G11 Nike) has split up and formed two teams for the league- Petita Blaugrana (pictured above) and Joves Barcelona (below). Real Madrid (G12 Nike) also has two teams- Los Blancos and Los Merengues. Valencia (B11 Nike) and Espanyol (B10 Option 1 Gold) round out the league, to make six teams in total.
Game 1 saw Los Blancos score four second half goals on their way to defeating Joves Barcelona 6-1. Logan McCleod (Los Blancos) scored the first goal in La Liga 9v9 history midway through the first half. She finished with four goals on the day. In game 2 Barcelona redeemed themselves, as Petita Blaugrana defeated Espanyol 5-1.
